This is why I haven't posted a review in a while.

I admit, I have not been as active on my review blog for quite a while. The main reason for that is that much of my focus has been on developing plays. I have always loved the theater, and I grew up around it, but oddly enough, it was Covid that pushed me in that direction. I had been floundering in the film world for years, making shorts and writing features, but not progressing as far as I was hoping. While I still adore film, and I will go back to it, the theater felt like the right direction to take. Sometimes it takes a jolt of reality and circumstances beyond your control to make you realize you should alter your path.

While there is some crossover in playwriting and screenwriting, they are still different worlds. It took me a while to figure out what story to pursue. When I landed on the right one, a dark comedy about a vegan serial killer chef called The Cruelty-Free Confessions of Hannah Blake, I knew I was heading in the right direction. I ended up bringing that play to the Edinburgh Fringe last year with 1 brilliant actor playing 4 different characters. I brought that same show to the New York City Fringe this past April, with 2 actors this time.

All that is to build up to my current project, a farcical spy comedy called Simone. It is one of the goofiest stories I have ever written, and I am immensely proud of it. I am bringing the show to the Hollywood Fringe this June for 9 days. My producer/director and I recently cast 2 wonderful actors, Kate Krieger and Pete Gardner. Both of them are brilliant. Gardner played Darryl in one of my favorite TV shows ever, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, so I am incredibly excited to have him on board.

I recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for the show via our fiscal sponsor Fractured Atlas. I am not super comfortable asking people for money, but it’s what you gotta do to make these shows. I want to ensure the show is staged to our best ability, and this is our current best way to do that. If you can, please donate to the show. I completely understand if you are not able to in these difficult financial times. Perhaps share the show with others, spread the word, perhaps via homing pigeon if you have access to one of those. Of course, if you are in Los Angeles, I would love you to see it. Here is the show info and the dates.

And here is the crowd fund link.

Many thanks to you all for your support and for continuing to read my reviews.
